Strapping pallets in continuous high volume without using three manual tools (tensioner, crimpers, seal supply) or loading metal consumables requires a battery-powered strapping tool that tensions, friction welds, and cuts plastic strapping in a single step. This battery-powered strapping tool for PP and PET strapping—also called an automatic strapping machine or battery-powered crimper—is manufactured by Fortemo with a cordless motor and thermal friction welding system, sized for 13-16 mm plastic strapping, designed for warehouses, factories, distribution centers, and construction sites where strapping is continuous and manual friction does not scale.

Key Benefits

  • Friction welding without metal seals: The motor generates heat through rapid movement that melts and joins the ends of the plastic strap, completely eliminating the consumption of staples, seals, or buckles and reducing the cost per pallet.
  • PP and PET compatibility in a single machine: The control panel supports welding time and tension force adjustments for both materials, avoiding duplicating tools based on strap type.
  • Cordless operation with rechargeable battery: Total portability without cables or air hoses, allowing work anywhere in the warehouse or construction site without access to power.
  • Three automated operations in one cycle: Tensioning, welding, and cutting with button activation, which eliminates the fatigue of manual strapping and reduces the time per pallet to a fraction.
  • Professional Fortemo production: Motor sized for intensive use with real heavy palletizing tensions, not oversized domestic equipment in marketing.

Typical Applications and Uses

  • High-volume palletizing in block, ceramic, food, paper, and cardboard factories.
  • Logistics distribution centers where in-line strapping is continuous and manual is not efficient.
  • Sawmills and woodworking operations where heavy strapping speed is critical.
  • Construction and heavy-duty work for quick securing of loads that change position.

Quality and Durability

An inexpensive battery-powered strapping tool fails in two ways: the welding motor does not generate uniform heat (which produces weak joints that open at the first pull) and the battery quickly loses capacity with intensive use. Fortemo works with a motor calibrated for uniform welding on PP and PET and a battery with declared real capacity, which separates a strapping tool for continuous professional operation from a marketing device that performs 50 cycles before showing problems.

Also known as: Technical: battery-powered strapping tool, portable automatic strapping machine, friction welding machine for strapping, electric strapping tool, cordless crimper. In DR and Caribbean: flejadora a batería, máquina de fleje, zunchadora automática. In other countries: battery strapping tool (USA), cordless strapping tool (USA), flejadora eléctrica (LATAM), zunchadora a batería (MX, CO), cinchadora automática (ES).

No — that's the key advantage over manual strapping. The machine uses friction welding technology: the motor moves one of the two strap ends at high speed, generating heat that melts the plastic and creates a homogeneous joint without needing any additional consumables. The savings on seals and buckles accumulated over a month of intensive operation quickly offset the investment in machine and battery.

Duration varies with intensity of use, type of strap (PET demands more energy than PP) and the configured tension. In normal operation, a full charge covers several hours of continuous strapping — enough for a standard professional palletizing shift. In high-volume operations, many buyers acquire a backup battery to alternate charging, eliminating downtime and keeping the strapping line running without recharge interruptions.

Plastic only: polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET) strap. The thermal friction welding system works because the plastic melts under heat; steel cannot be joined with this technology and requires entirely different equipment. For mixed plastic+steel operations, two separate systems are needed; the battery strapper covers exclusively the plastic strap segment.

The control panel allows switching between PP and PET by adjusting two parameters: weld time (PET requires more time due to its higher melting point) and tension force (PET supports and usually needs higher tension). The settings are quick to change and saved in memory, so switching from PP to PET operation mid-shift takes seconds. For operations that alternate continuously between the two materials, mark the settings of each as a reference.

Minimal maintenance. Regularly clean off molten plastic residue from the friction and welding zone (after a number of cycles, residue can affect seal quality), keep the motor housing free of dust, and charge the battery following the recommended cycle to preserve capacity. It does not require complex lubrication by the operator. The full routine takes a few minutes at the end of the shift.
