This anchor cap for fiberglass rod —also called a rebar cap, anchor clip or geocell fastener— is manufactured by MOLTEXO from UV-stabilized polymer, supplied in a box of 1000 units, designed for the temporary fixation of geocells in civil works, landscaping and erosion control.

Is it resistant to UV radiation and continuous rain?

Yes. The cap polymer incorporates a HALS stabilizer additive against UV-A and UV-B rays, calibrated to withstand direct Caribbean sun exposure without the material becoming brittle within a reasonable project timeframe. For continuous humidity and seasonal heavy rain: the plastic is hydrophobic, does not absorb water and keeps its structural properties without deterioration. Effective service life of the cap outdoors depends on cumulative exposure and abrasion from suspended sand, but in typical Caribbean gardening and landscaping projects it delivers several years of service without replacement.

Why use the cap instead of leaving the rod unfinished?

For three reasons. Grip: the cap provides a wide head that spreads the pressure over the geocell without puncturing it, whereas the bare end of the rod concentrates the force at one point and can tear the material. Speed: it snaps onto the fiberglass rod in seconds by pressure or with a light tap, versus improvised finishes that slow the job down when there are thousands of anchoring points. Can the cap be reused after removing it?

Yes, with care. Since the rod-plus-cap system is mostly used to hold the geocell temporarily during spreading and filling, when the anchor is removed the cap can be recovered and reused as long as the plastic clip structure is not damaged and it keeps its internal fit on the rod. If in your project the anchor stays in place permanently, treat the cap as a sacrificial part and install a new one at each replacement so the grip is never compromised.
