Securing geocells to the ground on slopes and embankments while they are stretched out and filled requires capping the end of the anchor rod with a wide retaining head that presses the cell against the soil, with no makeshift solutions that puncture the geosynthetic or leave the end exposed. This anchor cap for fiberglass rod —also called a rebar cap, anchor clip or geocell fastener— is manufactured by MOLTEXO from UV-stabilized polymer, supplied in a box of 1000 units, designed for the temporary fixation of geocells in civil works, landscaping and erosion control.

Key benefits

  • Effective hold with a wide contact area: the retaining disc creates a surface far larger than the rod end itself, pressing the geocell uniformly against the ground without puncturing the material.
  • Fast press-fit installation: it attaches to the fiberglass rod by hand pressure or a light tap, eliminating manual finishing on site and speeding up placement when thousands of anchor points are handled.
  • Polymer with calibrated UV resistance: the material withstands the Caribbean sun and continuous humidity without becoming brittle during the geocell installation and filling phase.
  • Safety on the job site: by covering the rod end with a plastic head, it reduces the risk of cuts and trips for workers and, on residential projects, for people and pets.
  • Compatibility with the fiberglass rod: designed for the 12 mm (0.47 in) diameter MOLTEXO fiberglass rod, forming the standard system for temporary geocell fixation.

Typical applications and uses

  • Temporary fixation of geocells on slopes, embankments and green walls during layout and filling.
  • Capping the end of the fiberglass rod in cellular confinement projects.
  • Securing the geocell while it is filled with gravel, sand or soil.
  • Erosion control and soil stabilization works with geocell.

Quality and durability

A cheap anchor cap fails at two points: plastic without proper UV additive becomes brittle and breaks under the Caribbean sun, leaving the rod end exposed, and a loose internal fit lets the cap come off with handling. MOLTEXO works with UV-stabilized polymer and an internal fit calibrated for the fiberglass rod, which is what separates a professional job-site cap from a generic clip that fails in the first season.

Also known as: Technical: rebar cap, anchor cap, rod anchor clip, geocell anchor cap, plastic rod fastener. In the DR and the Caribbean: anchor cap, rod clip, geocell fastener, fixation plug. In other countries: rebar cap (USA), geocell anchor cap (USA), capuchón ancla (LATAM), clip de fixation (FR), sujetador de varilla (LATAM, ES).

Is it resistant to UV radiation and continuous rain?

Yes. The cap polymer incorporates a HALS stabilizer additive against UV-A and UV-B rays, calibrated to withstand direct Caribbean sun exposure without the material becoming brittle within a reasonable project timeframe. For continuous humidity and seasonal heavy rain: the plastic is hydrophobic, does not absorb water and keeps its structural properties without deterioration. Effective service life of the cap outdoors depends on cumulative exposure and abrasion from suspended sand, but in typical Caribbean gardening and landscaping projects it delivers several years of service without replacement.

Why use the cap instead of leaving the rod unfinished?

For three reasons. Grip: the cap provides a wide head that spreads the pressure over the geocell without puncturing it, whereas the bare end of the rod concentrates the force at one point and can tear the material. Speed: it snaps onto the fiberglass rod in seconds by pressure or with a light tap, versus improvised finishes that slow the job down when there are thousands of anchoring points. Safety: it covers the end of the rod and prevents a sharp edge from being left flush with the slope or garden, critical in areas where people walk.

Can the cap be reused after removing it?

Yes, with care. Since the rod-plus-cap system is mostly used to hold the geocell temporarily during spreading and filling, when the anchor is removed the cap can be recovered and reused as long as the plastic clip structure is not damaged and it keeps its internal fit on the rod. If in your project the anchor stays in place permanently, treat the cap as a sacrificial part and install a new one at each replacement so the grip is never compromised.
