Wrapping trays, preserving prepared foods and protecting fresh products in the kitchen, at the counter or in the cold room, without plasticizer migration or odors passing into the food, requires a food-grade film made from a safe polymer. This food-grade polyethylene (PE) film —also called food wrap or PE kitchen film— is manufactured by Fortemo from virgin polyethylene free of PVC, phthalates and BPA, in 30 and 45 cm rolls with a dispenser box and cutter, designed for restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and food prep workshops.

Key benefits

  • Certified food safety: complies with FDA 21 CFR and EU Regulation 10/2011 for food contact, suitable for local and export markets.
  • No PVC or phthalates: plasticizer-free polyethylene formulation, the preferred choice for wrapping fatty foods, dairy and raw meat.
  • Freezer and microwave safe: withstands the freezer and gentle microwave reheating without breaking or transferring substances into the food.
  • Dispenser box with cutter: the serrated metal cutter delivers a clean, quick cut every time, with no waste and no roll getting out of control.
  • Natural cling: seals trays and containers on contact, without adhesives, keeping the product fresh and visible.

Typical applications and uses

  • Wrapping trays, platters and portions in restaurant, hotel and catering kitchens.
  • Preserving prepared foods, fruits, vegetables and meats in cold rooms and display cases.
  • Packaging fresh products in supermarkets, greengrocers, butcher shops and food prep workshops.
  • Protecting food on prep lines, buffets and takeaway service.

Quality and durability

With food film, cheap costs you in the kitchen: film that tears when pulled, that does not cling and forces you to double up layers, or of uncertain origin with no sanitary backing. Fortemo works with virgin polyethylene certified for food contact by the FDA and EU, the standard that delivers sanitary peace of mind and real yield per roll in high-volume operations.

Is it suitable for direct contact with unpackaged food?

Yes. It is made of virgin polyethylene free of PVC, phthalates and BPA, and complies with FDA 21 CFR and EU Regulation 10/2011 for food contact. It is the preferred option for wrapping fatty foods, dairy and raw meat, precisely because PE carries no plasticizers that could migrate into the food. It covers direct use in the kitchen, at the counter and in the cold room: trays, portions, cut fruit and unpackaged fresh products.

Can it be used in the microwave and freezer?

Yes, at both ends of the range: it withstands the freezer without turning brittle and takes gentle microwave heating without breaking or transferring substances to the food. For the microwave, leave one corner open as a vent and avoid direct contact between the film and very hot fats, standard practice in professional kitchens. That dual aptitude is what makes it the daily-rotation film in restaurants and hotels.

How does it differ from cling PVC film?

PE is the plasticizer-free option: preferred for fatty foods, dairy and raw meat, and suitable for freezer and gentle microwave use. Cling PVC offers more cling and shine, so it dominates at the counter and in the display case, where the tray must seal instantly and the product must look its best. In many operations they coexist: PE in the kitchen and cold room, PVC on display. Both are certified food grade and come in a dispenser box with cutter.

Which width should I choose: 30 or 45 cm?

The 30 cm is the agile format for individual trays, small containers and portions in the kitchen or at the counter. The 45 cm covers large platters, cold-room trays and kitchen containers without joining sections. Both come with 300 m per roll in a dispenser box with cutter, in cases of 6 rolls. The practical rule: if you often join two sections to close a container, you need the 45 cm width.
