Continuously strapping pallets and heavy packages without using three manual tools (tensioner, crimper, and seal supply) or relying on batteries that die halfway through the day requires a pneumatic strapping tool that tensions, friction-welds, and cuts plastic strapping in a single step, powered by compressed air. This pneumatic strapping tool for polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET) strapping—also called a pneumatic strapping machine or air strapping tool—is manufactured by Maxtens with pneumatic actuation and a thermal friction welding system, offering 3500 N of tension and a separator-free design, available in two versions depending on the strap width (13–19 mm and 19–25 mm), designed for warehouses, factories, distribution centers, and construction sites where strapping is continuous and manual strapping does not scale.

Key Benefits

  • Friction welding without metal seals: The head generates heat through rapid vibration that melts and joins the ends of the plastic strapping, completely eliminating the consumption of staples, seals, or buckles and reducing the cost per pallet.
  • High tension of 3500 N: Tightening force sized for heavy palletizing and compact loads, with a firm hold that does not loosen during transport.
  • PP and PET compatibility in a single machine: Allows adjustment of welding time for both materials, avoiding duplicating tools based on strap type.
  • Battery-free pneumatic operation: Powered by compressed air, it works continuously as long as there is an air line, without pauses for recharging or loss of capacity with intensive use.
  • Three operations in one cycle: Tension, weld, and cut with button activation, which eliminates the fatigue of manual strapping and reduces time per pallet to a fraction.

Typical Applications and Uses

  • High-volume palletizing in block, ceramic, food, paper, and cardboard factories.
  • Logistics distribution centers where in-line strapping is continuous and manual strapping is not efficient.
  • Sawmills and timber operations where the speed of heavy-duty strapping is critical.
  • Construction and heavy-duty work for quick securing of loads that change position.

Quality and Durability

An inexpensive pneumatic strapping tool fails in two ways: the welding head does not generate uniform heat (leading to weak joints that open at the first tug) and internal cylinder seals lose pressure, reducing actual tension below stated levels. Maxtens works with a calibrated head for uniform welding on PP and PET and a stable-pressure pneumatic cylinder, with an alloy base and a 360° swivel air inlet, which separates a professional continuous-operation strapping tool from equipment that yields a few hundred cycles before showing problems.

Do I need staples, seals or metal buckles to seal the strap?

No. The pneumatic strapping tool seals by friction welding: the head vibrates at high speed and the heat melts and joins the two ends of the plastic strap, creating a homogeneous joint with no consumables. You completely eliminate the spending on staples, seals and buckles, which lowers the cost per pallet from day one.

What compressor or air pressure do I need to run it?

It runs on compressed air at a working pressure of 0.5 to 0.8 MPa (73 to 116 psi), with 0.63 MPa (91 psi) as the ideal pressure. You need a compressor that delivers that pressure with enough flow to sustain the strapping pace; the air inlet swivels 360 degrees so the hose never gets in the way. At lower pressure, tension and weld quality drop, so a compressor with headroom is advisable for continuous operation.

Which version should I choose, 13–19 mm or 19–25 mm?

It depends on the width of the plastic strap you use. The 13 to 19 mm version covers standard strap for light and medium palletizing; the 19 to 25 mm version is meant for wide strap for heavy loads and higher holding demands. Both share the 3500 N of tension and work with PP and PET; only the accepted width range changes. If you use a single width, pick the version that includes it; if you handle several, choose based on your most frequent strap.

Does it work with steel strap or only plastic?

Plastic strap only: polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET). Friction welding works because plastic melts with heat; steel cannot be joined with this technology and requires different tools with metal seals. For a mixed plastic-and-steel operation you would need two separate systems.

What maintenance does it need to last in intensive operation?

Minimal maintenance. Drain moisture from the air and lubricate the pneumatic line as the compressor indicates, clean molten plastic residue from the friction area and keep the base and head free of dust. With clean, dry air and a cleanup at the end of the day, the cylinder and head keep their pressure and a uniform weld for years. The routine takes a few minutes.
